About this print:

The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand on the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, close to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland.

Floating on the lagoon are countless icebergs that have broken off the main glacier, creating an ever-changing scenery of incredible beauty. The icebergs are polished and shaped by waves before drifting on to the black sands of Breiðamerkursandur. The name ‘Diamond Beach’ is derived from the ice appearing like gemstones on the sands.

Diamond Rise is one of seven images - “Ice Rock”, “Molten Ice”, “Diamond Rise”, "Azure", “Ice Lagoon”, “Piscean”, and “Diamondscape” that form a limited edition series titled “Diamond Beach – Ice Series”. These images were photographed by Poppy when she visited Iceland in 2016.

About the artist:

Poppy Hollis is a photographer based in the UK, between London and Kent. She shoots travel, portraits and interiors. Her uplifting photography has appeared in titles including VOGUE ITALIA, Harper's Bazaar, Suitcase and Grazia, and commercial clients include Missoma and Bvlgari.
