About Us

Welcome to our new store!

The Woods sells limited edition fine art photography, inspired by travel, the natural world and the built environment.

Born, in uncertain times, from a love of photography, travel, adventure and exploration.

Our high quality, limited edition prints are made to order. We hope you enjoy shopping our collection of featured artworks.

A portion of all our print sale profits goes to CREATE, the UK's leading charity empowering lives through the creative arts. CREATE's focus is
on engaging the most marginalised participants in inspiring, sustainable arts programmes in areas where provision is poor and engagement in the arts is therefore low. You can find out more here.

FAQ

Here's a list of frequently asked questions. For any other queries you might have, please email us and we’ll do our very best to help.

How are The Woods artworks printed?
We work with an excellent printer based in London to produce our prints. Our prints are either C-Type or Giclée prints. Both professional printing processes deliver outstanding results, however they have different attributes and characteristics. Giclée prints generally have a much wider choice of paper texture and weights, and can produce more vivid, saturated colours, whereas C-Type prints have much more subtlety in tone and are better for producing very smooth gradients. On occasion, certain works may be printed with other techniques, such as dark room printing by hand - these special exceptions are noted in the individual product descriptions so do read these before purchasing.

What’s the difference between the different paper types you print on?
We’ve chosen the paper that each artwork is printed on together with the photographer to showcase their work to greatest effect. The paper type will always be noted in each print’s description together with the paper weight. We mainly use the following papers:

C-Type Prints:
Giclée Prints:
Fuji Matt
Epsom Semi Gloss
Fuji Gloss
Hahnemühle Bamboo
Kodak Metallic
Canson Baryta
Fuji Flex
Hahnemühle Pearl
Hahnemühle Photorag
Hahnemühle Etching

If you have a question regarding paper type and printing techniques please get in touch and we'll be glad to help.

Are all of your artworks limited editions?
Unless otherwise stated in the product description, all of the artwork sold by The Woods is on a limited edition print run. The size of the print run varies and is noted in each print’s description. We prefer to print collector's items, in small, exclusive, limited editions to ensure the work retains its value. Every limited edition print comes with a numbered holographic certificate of authenticity. On occasion a print may be on an open edition print run - if this is the case that is clearly noted in the individual product description.

Where can I find more information on the artist?
Visit our individual artists pages which includes a short interview with each artist, including insights into their work and creative inspiration. You can also follow us on Instagram where we feature artist takeovers and other behind-the-scenes content from our community from time to time. We love discovering great photographers - if there is someone's work you would love us to feature feel free to tell us about them.

How do you select the artists you feature?
We work with photographers at all points in their career, from new and emerging talents to established artists. What they have in common is that their work sparks in us a desire to pause and look more closely at the world. If you are a photographer interested in selling your work at The Woods please get in touch by emailing us, we’d love to take a look at your portfolio.

Can I customise my order?
Yes, we take custom orders on request - so if you see a piece you love but would like it in a different size for example, email us and we can provide guidance and a quote.

A word on framing
We currently sell all of our prints unframed, to enable you to spend time with your print and find the perfect frame and mount style to suit your space, taste and budget. We welcome feedback - if an integrated framing service would be appreciated in future please let us know. If you need advice on framing, please get in touch, we'd be pleased to guide you.
